Formed in 1998, Play Scotland aims to make the child’s right to play a reality in Scotland. Their mission is to enable all children and young people in Scotland to have equal opportunities to participate in diverse and quality play experiences that meet their individual needs.
Play Scotland raises awareness through Play Day, the Intro to Play Video Series, social media, and the Play Well Podcast. They empower parents, practitioners and communities though play ideas and training in schools, out of school care, and communities. They lead action-based research projects, create guidance and tools, and highlight related research. They influence policy through local authorities and planning, play strategies, consultation responses and white papers, and the manifesto for play.
