In a recent blog post for the Child & Nature Network, Trish O’Kane, lecturer at the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources at the University of Vermont, discusses her personal path to discovering nature as a source of healing, how her experiences motivated her to create a community-based course for undergraduate students to connect to the world outside of campus, and how this course in turn has taught her about white privilege in feeling safe outdoors.
Dr. O’Kane concludes her post with a number of tools to combat racism and unpack white privilege from an environmentalist perspective.
